UPDATE:    Today is May 26, 2013.  Quincy is just 2 years old and is losing his home  for the second time. His "dad" feels like he works too much and that, surely, Quincy would be happier in a home where "he will get the attention he needs and always be safe." Quincy has not been given a choice in this decision and, since he gets along fine with other cats, he might have suggested adding a second cat to the family to keep him company while his family is away/busy. But - this is another of those "whatever" days. We could tell him that bad things happen to good animals (SO very true!) or that "third time's the charm" but, IF he understood those unhelpful lines, we doubt if it would help him to understand why he is once again in need of a family to love him FOREVER. It just doesn't seem like that much to ask - does it??

Quincy will be staying at the Aventura PetSmart for a while - hoping that he won't have long to wait until his "forever" life can start. We expect that he will have a rough time at first and any attention that he can get will be truly appreciated. Even if you are not looking for a cat to add to your family right now - if you have a little time to spend with Quincy in the Adoption Center to reassure him that people are good and trust worthy and that he is loved - the cat room is open each morning and evening and your kindness will help him adjust to this change in life.

May 2012   -  Sometimes, the perfect life that you think you have just turns upside down and you either fall apart or you roll with the punches. Quincy's world has just fallen apart and, though he is still a bit sad and confused about where his family went and how he ended up in a cage at PetSmart, he has handled his predicament with grace and has welcomed the compassion and friendship of our Adopt A Stray volunteers while he waits for a new family to love him and take him home.

Quincy was adopted last October when he was a shy, quiet 5 months old. During the 7 months  with his family, he became confident, playful and AFFECTIONATE. His family adored him and, when they got transferred to Hawaii with the Marines for 8 months, they had hoped that we could take care of him because he would have had to live in quarantine for 120 days!! Because we want Quincy to have the stability of a permanent settled home and because, as it turned out, his family could be transferred many times over the coming years, we all sadly agreed that the very best choice for him was a new loving family that would be able to keep Quincy with them where ever they live. And Quincy has been amazingly forgiving considering the turn his life has taken. Though sad and a little afraid for the first couple of days, he has not hissed once or shown any aggression at all. He has handled getting his nails trimmed, his ears cleaned, being moved around, rolled over and dug out from under the bed those 1st couple of days like a perfect gentleman. Now he spends his days laying at the front of his cage watching dogs and people walk by outside the cat room and watching the cats in the room playing and interacting with each other. Once he feels ready, he will come out for playtime and join them but for now he is just observing and patiently waiting his turn to be brushed and loved-on by volunteers and PetSmart customers.
