Cats who live together outside and have all been spayed or neutered have no reason to allow a new cat to share their food source.  Somehow,  Gambol was able to make friends with them and they started to allow him to get regular meals.   Soon he was "sucking up" to the Adopt A Stray volunteer who was one of individuals who fed the cats.   Friday 2-8-13 he went for neutering and evaluation for "adoptability".

We are happy to report that Gambol has been very friendly with everyone who handled him during his neuter, testing, worming, defleaing, etc.  He is currently in a foster home who reports that he loves loves loves sitting on a lap, purrs incensantly and kneads his paws when you pet him.  He seems very grateful to be in a home.  Check back soon for regular updates.

Update:

Gambol is a wonderfully affectionate boy adorable boy. Everytime I walk in the room where he is staying, all he wants to do is curl up on my lap, get petted and kneed his little paws in the air. I believe he is very happy to be rescued. On the weekends, I try to sleep in that bedroom and whenever I wake up he is touching me somewhere. Seems he is grateful for his rescue and desperate to love and be loved. He does like to play with a feather toy on a string and with some toy mice.

He is one of those cats that is easy to handle. You can pick him up, put him on your lap, clean his ears, clip his nails, give him a pill and he's fine with it all. Just as long as you are giving him attention he doesn't seem to care what it is.

So far it has taken him about 30 minutes to get used to someone new when they visit. He may hide at first but curiousity gets the best of him and it's not long before he wants to check out the new person and see if they'll pet him.

He has NO bathroom issues. Uses the litterbox everytime and has not even acted like he wanted to spray anywhere.

I've had him for about a month now and for the first two weeks he was by himself in the front bedroom, when I first let him out to meet the other cats he got into a couple scuffles .....so I am taking the next steps very slowly, putting him in a big dog carrier and letting him get used to the other cats that way. He obviously got a long with the other cats in the colony, but the quarters are a lot closer at my house, so it's going to be an adjustment for him. He may be best as an only cat....but haven't made that decision yet.

You can meet this wonderful kitty most Saturdays at the Pembroke Pines Petsmart between 12 and 6pm.
