Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed (short coat) : : Female : : Adult : : Medium
Allegra knows what it is like to be part of a family and to have a home and she dreams of the day that she won't have to spend nights in a cage and share a catroom at PetSmart with 10 other cats. Don't get us wrong. Allegra is fine with other cats - she has spent most of her life so far in a home with Morris. They had a wonderful life in a wonderful home with a very nice dad. Morris & Allegra loved their home, their dad & each other and life was good - up until the time that their dad became sick. He struggled to take care of himself & them and the time came that it was just too much and, sadly, the only option for him was to return Morris & Allegra to Adopt A Stray. His health, both physical & emotional, was preventing him from being able to provide the kind of home that they needed and deserved. Allegra adjusted pretty quickly to her life changing. She is a happy little girl with a wiggle to her walk. She is really not a special needs kitty - just a special kitty. You see, Allegra got very sick when she was just 3 months old. She was super healthy at the time and that is why she survived a horrible virus that most kittens don't survive. There was one lasting effect, though, and that was that it left her a little wobbly. She doesn't know the difference and it really hasn't affected her life. She goes anywhere she wants to go and she can climb up and down a 5 ft cat tree almost as fast as your average cat! She can chase a laser light with the best of them! When Allegra & Morris got returned this past August, we took her to a vet to get her up to date on vaccines and to have her "wiggle" checked out. The very first thing that the vet said was "This cat has been like this almost all her life. She is completely comfortable with herself and how she moves. There is no reason at all that her balance should ever get any worse." And so, Allegra is just fine. She is a happy little girl that loves to play, loves attention and still loves a little cuddle time with Morris! (as you can see from the picture.) We won't lie - Allegra & Morris would love to be adopted together again. But we understand how difficult it can be to find a home for 2 adult cats. More than anything, Allegra wants to be part of a family again with room to run and people to love her that she can love in return. For right now, Allegra is calling the Aventura PetSmart Adoption Center home. You can meet her there 7 days a week. You can fill out an application for Allegra at the Aventura Petsmart or click on the link below to fill out an application online or print and fax one to (305) 940-5326.
