Sweet Sara has incredible light-green eyes and a friendly, affectionate disposition - as long as there are no other cats around. Nobody knows why some cats choose a particular cat to pick on. Sara was rescued from the street as a very small kitten and taken into a foster home and she was bullied from the start. Adopt A Stray is a foster program and good foster homes are priceless  -  wonderful people that are willing to care for animals that are not their own until we find them permanent homes and then give them up to someone else when they are loved like family. Most foster homes take care of multiple cats which is great for socialization but not so great for a cat that, for whatever reason, isn't happy around other cats. The first several years of Sara's life were quite stressful and she had a hard time maintaining healthy weight and a nice coat. She was grumpy most of the time and her first foster mom just thought that she wasn't a very nice cat.

We moved Sara into a new foster home recently with less cats. In fact, Sara is the only foster cat so the faces never change. She has regained her health and her healthy, luxurious coat but she still stays to herself and panics when the resident cats get too close. She loves to be held and cuddled by her foster mom and we have come to realize that she is not a "grumpy" cat. When she isn't intimidated by other cats, she is confident and loving and relaxed. We think she might have a little oriental background because she is quite vocal when she is happy. Sara has spent the first 5-6 years of her life stressed out and defending herself. Adopt A Stray cannot offer her a home where she can be the only cat. All we can do is our very best to find her the purrfect home where she can be someone's very special one-and-only. She could have another 10 years or more to brighten someone's life and be a wonderful companion. If you think you might want to consider being that special someone, let us know by filling out our adoption application and we will make arrangements for you to meet Sara. We think you will be glad you did. :)
