Gem is a gorgeous tabico (tabby and calico) girl who has been living at the Pembroke Pines Petsmart for quite a while.  Life started out kind of rough for Gem, like so many unwanted animals she was found as a kitten abandoned, hungry, and alone. While in her foster home she blossomed into the magnificent cat she is today.  Everyday she waits patiently wondering if today is the day she gets her forever home.  She has seen many cats come and go, and all she wants is for it to be her turn.  To know what it feels like to have her own family that loves her.  We keep telling Gem that her day will come, and until that time she will continue to wait and the volunteers will continue to love her.  If you are truly looking for a GREAT cat, you have found her!

 It's hard to understand why she has been overlooked by potential adopters since she's not only gorgeous (just look at her picture) but also has an adorable personality.

 She is a very confident friendly cat who will greet you enthusiastically when you visit the Pembroke Pines Petsmart adoption center.  She's just hoping someone will take the time to show her some affection or play with her.  Gem talks with a low growl.  If you're not familiar with Gem, it might seem like she's upset, but she's just making herself heard above the crowd to get that little extra attention she craves.

 Gem loves to play and she is absolutely crazy about those little toy mice.  If you put her away in her cage at night without one or two of them she will cry until you "get" the message.  Watch the short video below of her grabbing one of them out of another cat's cage.
