The kitten screamed and it's littermate joined in crying trying to get to her. Another trap was set up next to the trapped kitten and it's littermate went in. The mom cat was hysterical and a third trap was set up next to her babies and she triggered that one. This never happens, the family was kept together! The only problem was we did not want to separate these tiny five-week-old kittens from their mom and we were concerned that they would be feral if they stayed with her. Well they didn't stay feral! As it turned out this colony of cats were the most gorgeous Bombay and Bombay mixes. They were statuesque, with brilliant eyes, unfortunately, somebody neglected to spay and neuter the original pair and a small colony started. Nita and Barleys mom (who was a kitten herself) was quite feral and was returned to the colony after being spayed and vaccinated the first of the year. Nita and Barley have typical Bombay personalities. They are extremely affectionate, bright eyed and want attention and to be part of the family. Both are rambunctious, playful and smart. As playful as they are they love to be picked up and snuggle, especially Nita. Barley prefers to get to your shoulder and consider jumping. Both purr so loudly you could melt. They will each individually take a toy and play with it throwing it up in the air and constantly turning around to seeing what the other one is doing. It is the cutest thing. They love people already at this young age, they will even stop their playing and run to their foster mom if she calls to them.
Bombay’s love attention. The enjoy being held and being pet. Some Bombay’s even take on dog-like characteristics like playing fetch, for example. They enjoy being around people, but tend to select a certain someone to pay special close attention to. Bombay’s are also great with young children. Overall, the Bombay is a sensitive and intelligent cat that is perfect for a first-time cat owner. These kittens are no exception...they are sweet, active and quite loveable.
